Since January 2019, landlords of rental properties in unincorporated Marin that contain three or more dwellings cannot evict a tenant without providing a reason - a “just cause”. Starting June 1, a landlord must have registered with the County in order to evict a tenant from a property in unincorporated Marin.
The information required to register such a property is as follows:
copies of rental leases for the past two years
business license number
housing inspection program license or permit number
Staff from the Marin County Community Development Agency’s Housing and Federal Grants and Environmental Health Services divisions and the Department of Finance will be on hand to answer questions, to register properties, and to enroll properties in the business license and/or housing inspection programs.
